Lady Tribunes continue hot streak
ROCHESTER - Chelsey Cary (Pembroke, NY/Pembroke) highlighted two MCC doubleheader sweeps with a pair of no-hitters as the Tribunes ran their winning streak to 21 games.
Cary, a freshman, tossed her first career no-hitter in game one as MCC swept Erie CC 12-0 and 9-0 on Friday. She followed that up with another no-no in game one Saturday as the Tribunes beat Mohawk Valley 11-0 and 7-4.
Cary struck out 12 over the two games to help MCC up its record to 29-9, including a perfect 14-0 in Region III play.
Liz Dennis (Canastota, NY/Canastota) went 3-for-3 with a pair of home runs for MCC against Erie. Sam Rollins (Hornell, NY/Hornell) finished with three hits and four RBIs in both games against the Kats.
Stephanie Wagar (Rochester, NY/Greece Arcadia) had a three-run homer while Kira Wagar (Rochester, NY/Greece Arcadia) had three hits and three RBIs in game one against Mohawk.
Mary Jayne (Penn Yan, NY/Penn Yan) had two hits, including the go-ahead hit with two runners on in the ninth in game two.
