MCC earns NFCA NJCAA Coaching Staff of Year Honors
ROCHESTER -
Monroe Community College head coach Robb DiGiacomo and assistant Chuck Sciortino have been named the 2007 National Fastpitch Coaches Association’s NJCAA Division III Coaching Staff of the Year, the association announced.
The two coaches will be honored at the 2007 NFCA National Convention which will be held Nov. 28-Dec. 1 at the Las Vegas Hilton.
DiGiacomo, in his eighth year at the school, and Sciortino guided the team to a second straight softball national title as it swept four games at the national tournament and out-scored its opponents 57-6.
The national championship capped a tremendous season for the Tribunes as they finished the year with a 35-game win streak en route to a school-record 52-2 record.
MCC led NJCAA Division III this season in win/loss percentage and batting average.
