Pitching fuels DH sweep
KIRTLAND, OHIO - The MCC softball team twirled a pair of shutouts as the Tribunes topped host Lakeland CC 12-0 and 10-0 Tuesday afternoon.
Lindsey Grace (Honeoye, NY/Honeoye) and Laura Bauerlein (Penfield, NY/Penfield) combined for a two-hitter in the opener. Bauerlein and Jackie Dean (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) teamed to allow just two hits in the nightcap.
Grace struck out four over five innings to get the win in game one. Bauerlein won game two, tossing five innings and striking out two.
Sam Rollins (Hornell, NY/Hornell) went 4-for-4 with two RBIs for MCC in the opener. Sam Jones (Addison, NY/Addison) went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs.
Amanda Page (Batavia, NY/Batavia) and Stephanie Wagar (Rochester, NY/Greece Arcadia) had two hits and two RBIs apiece.
In game two, the Tribunes (15-9) got home runs from Rollins, Page, and Kelly Maloney (Honeoye, NY/Honeoye) in the big victory. Liz Dennis (Canastota, NY/Canastota) went 3-for-3, while Kira Wagar (Rochester, NY/Greece Arcadia) and Mary Jayne (Penn Yan, NY/Penn Yan) had two hits each.
