MCC softball continues to roll
ROCHESTER - The MCC softball team tossed two more shutouts Thursday afternoon, defeating Finger Lakes CC 18-0 and 11-0 to run its winning streak to 17 games.
The Tribunes are 25-9 on the season, including a perfect 10-0 mark in Region III, Division III play. Monroe has allowed just eight runs over the winning streak.
Kelly Maloney (Honeoye, NY/Honeoye) continued her torrid hitting with a grand slam deep over the left-field fence. Sam Rollins (Hornell, NY/Hornell) went 3-for-3 with three runs scored and three RBIs, while Liz Dennis (Canastota, NY/Canastota) had three hits and two runs batted in.
Sam Jones (Addison, NY/Addison) added two hits and two RBIs. Laura Bauerlein (Penfield, NY/Penfield) go the win, throwing four scoreless innings.
Rollins had another sold game in the nightcap, going 3-for-3 with four RBIs. Mary Jayne (Penn Yan, NY/Penn Yan) added three hits and three runs scored, while Jessica French (Springwater, NY/Wayland-Cohocton) had three hits as well.
Jackie Dean (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) earned the victory with four shutout innings.
