MCC men finish fourth, women fifth
BUFFALO - The MCC men's and women's swimming and diving teams wrapped up another successful season by claiming the NJCAA non-scholarship title at the 2011 NJCAA championship meet.
The Tribune men capped an outstanding four days with a fourth-place finish. The Monroe women finished in fifth. Indian River State College won both team titles. It was the 30th straight for the IRSC women and 37th straight for the men.
The men’s team was declared the Al Zamsky Non-Scholarship Division Champions while the women’s team won the Spyke Johnson Non-Scholarship Division title. The awards are given to the highest scoring non-scholarship teams at the national competition.
In addition, Monroe's coaching staff of Dan Dubois, Tim Dubois, and Scott Josephson were named the National Coaches of the Year for their work with the Tribune ladies this season. 
Mallory Morrell (Rush, NY/Rush-Henrietta) finished a tremendous season, setting a new national record and winning the championship in the 50 freestyle. Morrell originally broke the record in Thursday's preliminaries, finishing first in a time of 22.97. She then broke that record in the finals, taking the title with a time of 22.94.
Morrell also finished runner-up in the 100 free with a team and regional record time 50.37 seconds.
The MCC women also set a trio of other school and regional records. Those were in the 200 free relay (1:39.58; Morrell, Ashley Wumkes, Leslie Flannery, Kathryn McGowan), the 400 free relay (3:40.93; Morrell, Wumkes, Jennifer Conklin, McGowan), and the 800 free relay (8:10.08; Conklin, Wumkes, Flannery, Morrell).
