MCC hangs tough with RIT, Geneseo
GENESEO - The MCC men's and women's swimming and diving teams competed against four-year schools SUNY Geneseo and Rochester Institute of Technology on Saturday.
MCC had a pair of individual winners. Sean McNamara (Auburn, NY/Auburn) placed first in the 100 free (48.28) while also placing second in the 50 free (22.27). The other winner was Ashley Burns (Ravena, NY/R-C-S), who placed first in the 200 breaststroke (2:42.28).
McNamara also swam the lead leg as the MCC men won the 200 free relay (1:33.21). Also on that relay were Steve Cevaer (Ransomville, NY/Lewiston-Porter), Joe Young (Dansville, NY/Dansville), and Caleb Ludlow (Geneseo, NY).
The women's 200 free relay team finished second in 1:52.45. The team consisted of Elise Wilkin (Avon, NY/Avon), Christina DiGiorgio (Rochester, NY/Greece Athena), Kim Cahill (Rochester, NY/Greece Athena), and Bethany Peris (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads).
Peris also placed third in the 500 free in 5:39.14. Other third-place finishers were Hali Snow (Hamlin, NY/Brockport) in the 200 fly (2:23.24) and Liam Dooley (Honeoye Falls, NY/HF-L) in the 1000 free (11.33.85).
