MCC women top Brockport; Men stay close

ROCHESTER - The MCC women's swimming and diving team gave an impressive performance Wednesday evening, topping the College at Brockport 121-116.

The Tribunes men also swam well.  The Golden Eagles edged Monroe 126-108.

Bethany Peris (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) was a double-winner for the Tribunes, winning the 1000 free (11:49.97) and the 500 free (5:44.03)

Courtney Gruschow (Henrietta, NY/Rush-Henrietta) won the 50 free (26.76) and the 100 free (58.57) and Ashley Burns (Ravena, NY/R-C-S) placed first in the 400 IM (4:58.74) and the 100 back (1:06.14).

MCC's other individual winner was Hali Snow (Hamlin, NY/Brockport) in the 100 fly (1:07.39).

On the men's side, Daniel Branca (Panama City, Panama/St. Mary's) won three events for MCC.  The sophomore was victorious in the 500 free (5:14.45), the 200 free (1:47.49), and the 1000 free (10:21.14).

Sean McNamara (Auburn, NY/Auburn) took first in the 50 free (22.29) and the 100 free (49.50). Renzo Alvarez (Clearwater, FL/J.W. Mitchell) won the 100 fly (56.79) and the 400 IM (4:29.10).
