MCC swimmers dominate at Erie Invite
BUFFALO - The MCC men's and women's swimming and diving teams cruised to victory at the Erie Community College Invitational Saturday.
The Tribune men placed first with 836 points, while the MCC women prevailed with a score of 769.
Taylor Stewart (Owego, NY/Owego Free Academy) paced the men with victories in the 100 free (49.66), the 200 free (1:51.86), and the 200 fly (2:11.56). Elijah Kingston (Avon, NY/Avon) was a double-winner, winning the 500 free (5:13.51) and the 1650 free (17:55.71).
Other double winners included Tom Deiure (Rochester, NY/Eastridge) in the 1-meter (225.97) and the 3-meter (225.68) diving and Brian Roberts (Middletown, NY/Middletown) in the 200 breaststroke (2:17.91) and the 400 IM (4:48.43).
On the women's side, Ashley Wumkes (Rochester, NY/Churchville-Chili) won three times. The freshman placed first in the 200 free (2:06.50), the 200 backstroke (2:24.27), and the 400 IM (5:05.43).
Mallory Morrell (Rush, NY/Rush-Henrietta) continued her great season, setting another school and Region III record in the 50 free (23.30) while also winning the 100 free (52.62).
Also winning twice were Andrea Berger (Livonia, NY/Livonia) in the 1-meter (162.82) and 3-meter (139.72) diving and Jennifer Conklin (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Sutherland) in the 200 fly (2:26.52) and the 1650 free (18:53.14).
