MCC swimmers defeat Genesee
ROCHESTER - The MCC men's and women's swimming and diving teams competed in their last tune-up before regionals Tuesday, defeating Region III foe Genesee CC at the Monroe pool.
The Tribune women prevailed 102-48, while the MCC men won 74-11.
On the women's side, Hali Snow (Hamlin, NY/Brockport) placed first in the 200 IM (2:24.91) and the 200 fly (2:24.32). Bethany Peris (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) won the 1650 free (19:28.54) and the 500 free (5:43.86).
Courtney Gruschow (Henrietta, NY/Rush-Henrietta) won the 50 free (26.09) and the 100 free (58.03) for MCC. Ashley Burns (Ravena, NY/R-C-S) took home the 200 breaststroke (2:46.04) and the 200 backstroke (2:19.70).
Elise Wilkin (Avon, NY/Avon) placed first in the 200 free (2:10.42).
For the men, Renzo Alvarez (Clearwater, FL/J.W. Mitchell) was a double winner in the 200 backstroke (2:07.38) and the 200 IM (2:02.72). Daniel Branca (Panama City, Panama/St. Mary's) won the 500 free (4:55.97) and the 100 free (48.36).
TJ Harrison (Rochester, NY/Greece Athena) won the 1650 free (19:06.39) and Steve Cevaer (Ransomville, NY/Lewiston-Porter) won the 50 free (24.86) for the Tribunes. Sean McNamara (Auburn, NY/Auburn) was first in the 200 free (1:49.42).
Grant Oosterling (Newark, NY/Newark) and Megan Vandewinckel (Ontario, NY/Wayne Central) each won the 1- and 3-meter diving events for MCC.
