MCC swimmers sweep duals

BATAVIA - The MCC men's and women's swimming and diving teams swept dual meets with Genesee CC and Mercyhurst NE Wednesday night.

The Tribune men (5-0 Region III, 5-3 overall) defeated GCC 50-40 and MNE 68-8.  The MCC Ladies (5-0 Region III, 6-2 overall) topped Genesee 77-9 and Mercyhurst 77-1.

Elijah Kingston (Avon, NY/Avon) placed first in the 500 free (5:14.61) and Connor Kilmer (Auburn, NY/Auburn) won the 100 free (49.99) for Monroe.

Other individual winners were Taylor Stewart (Owego, NY/Owego Free) in the 50 free (23.02) and Tore Hansen (Skoutianten, Denmark/Handelsskolen) in the 100 backstroke (58.20).

On the women's side, a pair of double winners led the Tribunes.  Marguerite Zaepfel (Gasport, NY/Barker) took first in the 50 free (26.42) and the 100 free (57.23), while Katie Hamilton (Rochester, NY/Eastridge) won the 200 free (2:09.96) and the 500 free (5:43.59).

Jennifer Conklin (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Sutherland) placed firs tin the 100 fly (1:07.69) and Alaiya Tuntemeke (South Lima, NY/Livonia) captured the 1-meter diving (177.30).

Other individual winners were Ashley Wumkes (Rochester, NY/Churchville-Chili) in the 200 IM (2:25.01), Ashley Dubois (Henrietta, NY/Rush-Henrietta) in the 100 breaststroke (1:18.29), and Jennifer Bade (Fairport, NY/Gananda) in the 100 back (1:10.04).
