Swimmers perform well at Geneseo
ROCHESTER - The MCC swimming and diving teams began the regular season in good form Saturday, as the women's team placed second and the men's team third at the SUNY Geneseo Invitational.
While the Lady Tribunes had no winners, a balanced attack helped them outpoint the College at Brockport, Alfred University and Alfred State.
The 400-free relay team had the highest finish for the women, as the team of Ashley Burns (Ravena, NY/Ravens-Coeymans-Selkirk), Elise Wilkin (Avon, NY/Avon), Bethany Peris (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads), and Hali Snow (Hamlin, NY/Brockport) finished second in 4:02.23.
Burns finished fourth in the 200 IM (2:26.76) and the 100 back (1:07.37), while Megan Oas (Wayland, NY/Wayland-Cohocton) was fourth in the 100 breaststroke (1:20.42).
On the men's side, Daniel Branca (Panama) was a double winner. The sophomore placed first in the 200 free (1:46.75) and the 500 free (4:53.84). Sean McNamara (Auburn, NY/Auburn) also had a first-place finish in the 50 free (22.33).
Branca also finished third in the 100 fly (55.62) and McNamara was third in the 100 free (49.26).
