JCC tops Monroe in WNYAC tourney
SANBORN, NY - Jamestown Community College came away with a close win over Monroe CC in the opening round of the Western New York Athletic Conference tournament Saturday at Niagara County CC.
Scores were 23-25, 25-15, 25-18, 17-25, 15-12 in favor of the Jayhawks.
Sarah Kuperus (Newark, NY/Newark) had 14 kills and Sarah Zelko (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) added 27 assists for the Tribunes (14-15).
MCC will host Herkimer CCC at 6 p.m. Tuesday in a Region III sub-regional match.
Katie Lasch (Greece, NY/Greece Arcadia) added 11 kills, Symphony Samuels (Henrietta, NY/Rush-Henrietta) added nine kills, and Jordan Bandera (Syracuse, NY/Solvay) had 36 digs.
