MCC volleyball moves to regional semifinals
CORNING, NY -
In a season that continued to defy logic, the MCC volleyball team advanced to today's Region III, Division III semifinals after a wild day of pool play Saturday.
With no team able to pull away but none rolling over either, the Tribunes and Erie CC advanced to the semifinals. MCC will take on Niagara CCC and Erie will battle Jamestown with both matches at 11 a.m. The winners will play at 1 p.m. with a chance to advance to nationals.
MCC swept Erie 3-0 but fell to both Corning and Alfred State by 2-1 scores, giving the Tribunes five total points heading into the final match between Corning and Erie.
Corning had four points and Erie and Alfred State each had three. All Corning needed to do was win one of the games against Erie, while ECC needed at least two to tie Monroe.
The Kats swept the Barons, however, sending ECC and MCC into today's action.
