MCC finishes second at Jefferson

WATERTOWN, NY - The MCC volleyball team finished second at the season-opening Jefferson Community College tournament Saturday.

The Tribunes were a perfect 3-0 in pool play before dispatching Jefferson in three games in the semifinals.  Monroe (4-1) then fell to Erie in the title match.

Ashley Kelly (Greece, NY/Greece Athena) registered a team-high 35 kills on the day.  Kelsi Blum (Livonia, NY/Livonia) added 18 kills, 23 digs, and eight aces, and Virginia Combs (Penfield, NY/Mercy) had 18 kills and 71 assists.

Paige Calabrese (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) finished with 47 digs and nine aces, and Erica Thompson (Liverpool, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) added 25 kills and 16 blocks.
