Three named All-Region; Jehlen top coach

ROCHESTER - Three MCC volleyball players and head coach Tara Jehlen were honored by Region III.

Sophomore Sarah Zelko (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) and freshman Denae Rinaldo (Canastota, NY/Canastota) were named First Team All-Region selections, while sophomore Jordan Bandera (Syracuse, NY/Solvay) made the third team

Jehlen was named the Region III, Division III Coach of the Year.  She also received Coach of the Year honors from the Western New York Athletic Conference.

Zelko, a setter, averaged 8.09 assists per game during the regular season, a mark which was good for 15th in the nation.  She also had 2.3 digs per game.

Rinaldo, an outside hitter, led Monroe with 250 kills on the regular season.  Her hitting efficiency was over 32 percent and she also averaged 3.3 digs per game.

Bandera, a libero, was among the best in the country in digs per game.  Her mark of 4.96 per game was good for fifth in the nation.
