Tribunes top Alfred State
ROCHESTER - The MCC Lady Tribunes opened up a 26-point lead at the break and cruised to a 100-43 victory over visiting Alfred State Saturday.
The win was the seventh in a row for Monroe (11-6 overall, 7-0 WNYAC). MCC scored 36 points off 30 Pioneer turnovers and outscored Alfred 29-4 in second chance points.
Brittany Hilliard (Washington, D.C./Theodore Roosevelt) had a game-high 18 for the Tribunes. Caila Desroches (Oyster Bay, NY/John Glenn) had a double-double by halftime and finished with 15 points and 15 rebounds.
Charmonique Watt (Brooklyn, NY/Lincoln) also had 15 for MCC. Natalie Young (Queens, NY/John Adams) added 14 and Natasha Smalls (Harlem, NY/St. Michael's Academy) had 10 points, eight rebounds, and three blocks.
A 19-0 run early in the second half put the game away for the Tribunes. Watt had 10 during the spurt and Smalls had six.
