Tribunes capture third straight
JAMESTOWN, NY - The Jamestown CC Lady Jayhawks gave MCC everything it could handle, but the Tribunes held on for a 58-53 Western New York Athletic Conference victory Thursday.
The Tribunes led by one at the break. MCC then went on a 12-4 run to open the second half, but Jamestown hung around and was down one with just over a minute remaining.
Allyssa Lane (Winter Park, FL/Winter Park) then came through with a huge play for Monroe, converting a 3-point play to put the Tribunes up 57-53 with 42 seconds left. MCC added a free throw to wrap up the win.
Charmonique Watt (Brooklyn, NY/Lincoln) led the way with four 3-pointers and 15 points for the Tribunes. Lane added 14, while Kamiel Brown (Jamaica, NY/South Shore) also hit double figures with 11.
MCC is now a perfect 3-0 in conference play and 7-6 overall.
