MCC cruises in season opener
ROCHESTER - The MCC women's basketball team won it's season opener Sunday afternoon, defeating the University of Waterloo (Canada) 95-47 on Monagan Court.
The 14th-ranked Tribunes (1-0) will head to Florida this weekend for games against No. 3 Chipola and No. 7 Gulf Coast.
Shanee Williams (Queens, NY/Murray Bergtraum) scored 15 of her game-high 20 in the first half as the Tribunes led 41-24 at the break. Williams also finished with four steals and three assists.
MCC shot 56 percent from the field and outrebounded the Warriors 47-21 on the game. Waterloo committed 22 turnovers.
Danay Collier (Bronx, NY/JFK) added 16 points, five assists and four steals for Monroe. Cyialece Davis (Neptune, NJ/Neptune) also hit double figures with 13 on perfect 6-for-6 shooting from the floor.
Krystal Parnell (Brooklyn, NY/Murray Bergtraum) just missed a triple-double with nine points, 10 assists, and eight rebounds. Katrina Blackman (Tuckahoe, NY/Tuckahoe) scored nine and Deree Fooks (Camden, NJ/Woodrow WIlson) had eight points and 11 rebounds.
Erinne Cunningham (Jamestown, NY/Jamestown) added seven assists.
