Lady Tribunes top Crusaders
ROCHESTER - Keona Jones (Brooklyn, NY/Grand Street Campus) had 17 points and 12 rebounds and Brittany Hilliard (Washington, D.C./Theodore Roosevelt) also had 17 as the MCC women's basketball team defeated Notre Dame Prep 78-66 Sunday morning.
MCC was up by five at the half before the Crusaders made a run in the second. Notre Dame Prep took its first lead since the 14-minute mark of the first half on a jumper by Rashedah Henriguez to make it 45-43. Monroe then went on a 13-5 run to take command.
Caila Desroches (Oyster Bay, NY/John Glenn) had a big game in the paint for MCC, finishing with 15 points and eight rebounds. The Tribunes enjoyed a 48-32 advantage on the glass.
MCC is 2-0 on the season. The Lady Tribunes will travel to Chipola College in Florida next weekend for the Alzheimer Classic.
