Hilliard's big OT lifts Monroe
ROCHESTER - Brittany Hilliard (Washington, D.C./Theodore Roosevelt) hit three 3's and scored nine of her game-high 30 points in overtime as the MCC Lady Tribunes defeated Canada's National Elite Development Academy 77-71 Monday evening.
After a cold start, Hilliard caught fire down the stretch. She scored Monroe's last eight points in regulation to help overcome a six-point deficit and force the extra session.
Hilliard then hit a three early in overtime. After Canada responded to take a 71-69 lead, the freshman added two more treys to put the lead to four. A pair of free throws by Allyssa Lane (Winter Park, FL/Winter Park) provided the final margin.
Hilliard finished with six rebounds and five assists. Natasha Smalls (Harlem, NY/St. Michael's Academy) had 13 points and 10 rebounds while Caila Desroches (Oyster Bay, NY/John Glenn) also had 13.
Krissy Rosario (Atlantic City, NJ/Absegami) chipped in with 12 rebounds and Lane had nine steals and six assists.
