MCC tops TCI in Pavia opener
ROCHESTER - Deree Fooks (Camden, NJ/Woodrow Wilson) had 25 points and 10 rebounds and the MCC women’s basketball team defeated TCI 88-70 in the first round of the 17th annual Pete Pavia Memorial Scholarship Basketball Tournament.
The Tribunes (4-4) hit 10 3-pointers and had 23 assists on 30 made baskets. Krystal Parnell (Brooklyn, NY/Murray Bergtraum) had eight assists while Danay Collier (Bronx, NY/JFK) added six.
Kim Brown (Oakland, CA/Hayward) had a big game for Monroe with 18 points and seven rebounds. Cyialece Davis (Neptune, NJ/Neptune) chipped in with 12 points and six boards off the bench.
Parnell finished with 11 points, eight assists, and three steals. MCC will play Lakeland CC at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Pavia title game.
