Lady Tribunes top rival Genesee

BATAVIA - A hot start and a strong finish helped the MCC Lady Tribunes defeat host Genesee CC 77-52 in a Western New York Athletic Conference game Tuesday evening.

With the win, MCC improved to 17-7 overall and 11-0 in conference play.  GCC fell to 20-3.

The Tribunes came out on fire, hitting seven of their first nine shots.  A 13-0 run, sparked by five points from Natalie Young (Queens, NY/John Adams) and four from Caila Desroches (Oyster Bay, NY/John Glenn) helped Monroe take a 29-9 lead.

The Cougars fought back and cut the lead to 10 in the second half, but MCC closed the game on a 16-2 run to put it away.

Brittany Hilliard (Washington, D.C./Theodore Roosevelt) led Monroe with a game-high 21 points.  Krissy Rosario (Atlantic City, NJ/Absegami) added 15 points and 12 rebounds and Desroches had 13 points and 11 boards.

Charmonique Watt (Brooklyn, NY/Lincoln) had a dozen points and Natasha Smalls (Harlem, NY/St. Michael's Academy) tallied 12 rebounds.  MCC outrebounded GCC 58-38 on the night.
