Tribunes take Lakeland Tournament

KIRTLAND, Ohio - The MCC women's basketball team captured the TJ Memorial Classic at Lakeland CC Saturday, defeating Mercyhurst North East 76-41 in the title game.

The win moved the Tribunes to 8-3 on the season.

Monroe controlled the game throughout.  Sehmonyeh Allen (Freehold, NY/Neptune) helped lead the way all weekend, finishing with 13 points Saturday after scoring 22 in the opener.  She was named tournament MVP.

Shan-tasia Padgett (Roselle, NJ/Abraham Clark) led Monroe with 15 and was named to the all-tournament team.  Nubia Haynes (Brooklyn, NY/Manhattan Village) also scored 13.

Ivory James (Camden, NJ/Woodrow Wilson) joined Allen and Padgett on the all-tournament team.
