Olijnyk named Chancellor's Scholar Athlete
ROCHESTER - Recent MCC graduate Kristine Olijnyk (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) was named a 2008-09 Chancellor's Scholar Athlete Award recipient
State University of New York Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher announced the honorees Tuesday, June 9. The award recognizes academic excellence and athletic achievement at the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I, Division III and NJCAA levels.
Olijnyk, who led the MCC women's lacrosse team to a national runner-up finish in 2009, graduated with a 3.97 GPA. She was a two-time First Team All-Region and All-American performer and leaves Monroe as the program's all-time leader in goals and points.
Scholar athletes are nominated by campus representatives and are reviewed and approved by SUNY System Administration and athletic directors representing SUNY Division I programs, Region 3 and Region 15 of the NJCAA, the State University of New York Athletic Conference and from independent SUNY institutions participating in Division III programs.
