MCC tops Morris to advance to the district finals

LINCOLN, RI - Victoria Begy (Livonia, NY/Livonia) scored two of MCC's four second-half goals as the Lady Tribunes defeated County College of Morris 4-0 in the District G women's soccer semifinals Friday.

Begy also added an assist during the outburst as Monroe opened up the game against Morris.  The Tribunes improved to 13-2 and will face host Community College of Rhode Island at 12 p.m. on Sunday in the title game.

The winner of that game will advance to the NJCAA Division I national tournament at Darton College in Albany, GA.

After a scoreless first half, Rachel Murphy (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Sutherland) got MCC on the board off a pass from Begy.

Begy then tallied two in a row, with the first coming on a direct kick from 25 yards out.  The second was assisted by Amanda Cassano (Hamilton, Ont./Bishop Ryan) and made the score 3-0.

Jenelle Goff (Honeoye, NY/Honeoye) finished off the scoring for MCC, with the assist going to Crystal Morgan (Livonia, NY/Livonia).

Kimika Forbes (Plymouth, Tobago/Scarborough) had four saves, including a leaping stop on a high shot, to secure the shutout for the Tribunes.
