Tribunes sprint past Niagara
ROCHESTER - Coming off its first loss of the season, the MCC women's soccer team began a new winning streak in impressive fashion Tuesday, defeating Niagara CCC 11-0 on John L. DiMarco Field.
The Lady Tribunes (12-1) lost to defending national champion Lewis & Clark CC 3-2 in overtime on Saturday. The team wasted little time starting a new streak, scoring five times in the first half to take a commanding lead.
Veronica Santiago (Rochester, NY/Aquinas) had four goals and Vanessa Gillette (Fredonia, NY/Fredonia) added three for MCC. Joanna Prestigiacomo (Greece, NY/Greece Athena) scored twice.
Sarah Petrie (Oswego, NY/Oswego) tallied a goal and an assist and Brittany Peterson (Fredonia, NY/Fredonia) scored on a header.
Anne Beinetti (Honeoye Falls, NY/Homeschooled) and Jessica Andres (Honeoye, NY/Honeoye) dished out two assist apiece for Monroe.
Melissa Plain (Honeoye Falls, NY/Honeoye Falls-Lima), Bailey Maxwell (St. Thomas, ON/St. Joseph's), and Maria Bradt (Chili, NY/Churchville-Chili) added one assist apiece.
