Storm halts MCC's victory bid
CINCINNATI - The third-ranked MCC women's soccer team appeared headed toward a victory over No. 1 and defending national champion Young Harris College Saturday afternoon. But a storm forced the game's cancellation just 10 minutes before it would have become official.
The Tribunes scored a pair of second-half goals to take a 2-0 lead after 60 minutes of play before thunder and lightning forced a delay. The rain eventually let up, but every rumble of thunder forced subsequent delays and the game was eventually called, negating the possible win and all statistics.
According to NJCAA rules, a game must be 70 minutes old to qualify as official, leaving MCC a mere 10 minutes from a big victory.
The Tribunes will play host Cincinnati State on Sunday.
