MCC cruises past Jamestown
ROCHESTER - Eight different players scored goals as the top-ranked MCC women's soccer team defeated visiting Jamestown CC 12-0 Wednesday.
The Lady Tribunes, who are ranked first in the NJCAA Division I national poll, improved to 8-0 on the season. They will host No. 3 Community College of Rhode Island at 12 p.m. Saturday.
Veronica Santiago (Rochester, NY/Aquinas) had her second seven-point game of the season as she tallied three goals and one assist. Vanessa Gillette (Fredonia, NY/Fredonia) and Jessica Gagliano (Gates, NY/Gates Chili) added two goals apiece.
MCC led 1-0 early on before scoring three times in a span of one minute and 13 seconds to open it up.
Liz Tomlinson (Bloomfield, NY/Homeschooled) chipped in with a goal and two assists while Ashley Wilson (Ravena, NY/R-C-S) had one goal and one assist. Sarah Petrie (Oswego, NY/Oswego) handed out three assists.
Other goal scorers for Monroe were Jessica Andres (Honeoye, NY/Honeoye), Brittany Peterson (Fredonia, NY/Fredonia), and Marissa Masello (Camillus, NY/West Genesee).
