MCC improves to 7-0 with shutout
OLEAN, NY - The MCC women's soccer team continued its dominant start to the 2009 season, defeating Jamestown-Olean 6-0 Wednesday afternoon.
The Lady Tribunes improved to 7-0 on the season. Second-ranked Monroe has outscored opponents 28-2 this year.
Anne Beinetti (Honeoye Falls, NY/Homeschool) paced the attack with two goals, while Bailey Maxwell (St. Thomas, ON/St. Joseph's) added a goal and an assist.
Veronica Santiago (Rochester, NY/Aquinas), who was named the NJCAA National Player of the Week, also had a goal and an assist for Monroe. Ashley Wilson (Ravena, NY/R-C-S) and Melissa Plain (Honeoye Falls, NY/HF-L) also scored goals.
Rachel Popowych (Hamlin, NY/Brockport) and Kylee Jones (Brockport, NY/Brockport) combined for the shutout in goal.
The defense, spearheaded by Allyn Parrino (Brockport, NY/Brockport), Jessica Gagliano (Gates, NY/Gates Chili), and Joanna Prestigiacomo (Greece, NY/Greece Athena) helped to hold Olean without a shot on goal.
