NJCAA National Runners-up
In 2008, our teams produced an individual National Champion in the Men's 1650 freestyle (Daniel Branca) and three CSCAA All-Americans (top-4 finish in an event) in six individual events. Our women's team earned NJCAA National Runner-Up (2nd place) honors for the third time in school history. Additional honors include the ninth straight men's Region III championship title, which is the 11th in the past 12 years. The women’s team also captured the regional title in 2008, securing their 11th title in the past 12 years. The MCC TEAM set four new school and four regional records during the 2007-2008 season.
The coaching staff strives to maintain the success they've enjoyed together over the past few years. Dan and Tim Dubois will return for their 13th season along with Diving coach Scott Josephson for his fifth. This TEAM coaching continuity has contributed greatly to the success of the program and has produced four individual national champions in eight events and one national record since 2002. That year also marked the inception of Monroe’s Swimming and Diving Student-Athlete Success Program, which is designed to foster student development. The organization of this value system focuses our student-athlete's energy on areas that enhance holistic student success. It is expected that our student-swimmers do all that they are capable of to be good TEAMmates, excellent students, and successful athletes. Collectively our TEAM is focused on excellence and attempting to be better tomorrow then they were today.
