Entering his 16th year as head coach Dan Dubois and his staff provide a TEAM coaching environment that has resulted in numerous regional and national accolades. In 28 opportunities the MCC men & women's teams have captured 26 regional team championships. In that same time MCC has had 21 top-four team finishes at the NJCAA national competition, including a second-place finish for the women's team in 2001, 2007, and 2008. Dubois was chosen NJCAA Women's Coach of the Year in 2000, 2003, and 2007. During the 2009-10 season Dubois and his team of coaches earned their first NJCAA Men’s Coaching Team of the Year honors. Dubois has also been chosen Region III Men’s or Women’s Coach of the Year ten times. MCC swimmers have captured nine individual event national titles and established one national record in the past six years. Dubois also gives back to the sport of NJCAA swimming and diving by serving as the Region III Swimming & Diving Coaches Association President and the NJCAA Swimming & Diving Coaches Association secretary.
Dubois oversees the physical training of all student-athletes but relies on the expertise of his assistant coaches in the design and implementation of daily and yearly plans. Dubois primarily focuses on IM and distance training, TEAM building, strength development, academics, and recruiting. Framing the program around the Student-Athlete-Success program Dubois works daily to inspire his TEAMmates to be better tomorrow then they were today, in all facets of their life, in and out of the pool.
Dubois is an MCC alumnus and graduated from the University of South Florida in 1986 with a B.S. degree in physical education. He received his M.S. in adult education from Buffalo State College in 2002. Over 23 years Dubois has coached NAG-16 age group swimmers, sectional, senior and US Open national qualifiers. Dubois resides on the west side of Rochester with his wife Christina and four beautiful daughters, ranging in age from 4 to 27.
Timothy J. Dubois -
Associate Head Coach
tdubois@monroecc.edu
Timothy Dubois is in his 15th year as an assistant with the MCC Men's and Women's teams. His leadership and guidance has been instrumental in the overall success of the program. He, along with Dan and Scott, combine to perfectly form one of the strongest coaching teams in all of the NJCAA.
Tim’s primary responsibilities lie in the physical preparation of athletes both in and out of the water, something he excels at. There is much crossover in the Monroe Coaching TEAM, but he primarily works the middle distance freestyle, stroke and individual medley groups. His skill, knowledge and experience in swimming has been an integral part of guiding the program into the national scene during his tenure, and keeping it there. His guidance, along with the other coaches, has helped Monroe athletes to eight individual NJCAA titles, an NJCAA national record, and over 40 CSCAA All-Americans. Tim has been part of the coaching TEAM for four NJCAA and ten Region III Coach of the Year awards.
In his 24 years of coaching, Tim has coached all levels, including Eastern Zone Sectional qualifiers, NAG-16 age group swimmers, Junior, USA National and US Open qualifiers, and just about everything in between. He is also a past recipient of the NJCAA Dr. Jack Cistriano Coaches Appreciation Award for his service to NJCAA swimming and diving. Tim is also heavily involved in USA Swimming and is the Head Coach for the Rush-Henrietta Swim Club and is the Technical Planning Committee Chair for Niagara Swimming, Inc. In 2011, Tim was awarded the Niagara Swimming Age Group Coach of the year and the ConocoPhillips USA Swimming Outstanding Service Award for Niagara LSC. Tim and his wife Katie reside in Henrietta, NY, along with their daughter Ashley, who is a freshman at MCC. Their son Nicholas, is a Junior at SUNY New Paltz in New Paltz, NY. Tim is an alumnus of Monroe Community College.
Scott Josephson - Diving Coach
Scott Josephson is in his seventh year as the diving coach for the men’s and women’s teams. Scott has excelled in his coaching tenure, having had divers finish in the top five at the national meet from 2004 through 2010. Scott has made our team even more solid and formidable. This year will be no exception and the diving team looks very strong.
Scott was a four-year varsity diver in high school where he captured the Section V diving title. A two-time New York State diving finalist and top 7 finisher Scott has the experience and enthusiasm that Coach Daniel Dubois looks for. It is also no coincidence that Scott dove on the same high school team as Coach Tim. This early bond as athletes and now as coaches makes this staff very determined and single-minded. Scott is a great fit into the program at Monroe.
A graduate of the SUNY College at Brockport with a Bachelors of Science degree in physical education with a teaching certification, Scott currently works in the Webster School District and for the Webster Blue Fins Diving Team. Scott and his wife Karen live in Brighton with their two sons.
