Catching up with Urckfitz (Sept. 10, 2008)
It's been a whirlwind few months for Pat Urckfitz. He made the leap from college to the professional ranks and has made quite an impression along the way.
Urckfitz signs with Astros (June 29, 2008)
After helping lead the MCC baseball team to a school-record 41 wins and a third-place finish at the NJCAA Division II World Series, pitcher Pat Urckfitz has signed a professional contract with the Houston Astros.
The Monroe Community College baseball program has won more than 1,200 games in over 40 years of existence. The Tribunes have captured 20 regional championships (including 2009), six District championships, and have made six NJCAA World Series appearances.
MCC has had over 60 All-Americans and many players have been drafted by Major League teams, including Greg Keagle, who pitched for the Detroit Tigers, and Tim Redding, who is currently with the New York Mets.
