Swimming & Diving

Welcome to the area of our page dedicated to the fine MCC alumni that established the tradition of excellence that is associated with MCC's swimming & diving program. From a historical perspective, MCC has enjoyed many successes, in the pool, the classroom, and most importantly, in the arena of life.

General History

The MCC Swimming & Diving team was founded in the 1969-70 season, just a few short years after the college opened the Brighton campus. Today over 500 swimmers and divers can say they are alumni of the MCC Tribunes. Alumni are spread throughout the United States and the world and successfully contribute to the “greater good” in a wide variety of professions.  It is my belief that our alumni’s experience at Monroe Community College as a student and athlete has been instrumental in their contributions to the world at large.

In the early days, the team practiced at the Rochester Institute of Technology pool, as the MCC aquatic facility was not completed until 1978. Starting in the '69-70 season, MCC established itself as a regional and national power and has steadily been recognized at the national level. In our history, we have had nine individual national champions (in 13 events) and over 65 individual CSCAA or NJCAA All-Americans (in well over 100 events). In 2011, Mallory Morrell joined Urska Ros, Matt Monaghan and Laura Peel to become the only MCC swimmers to establish national records. The information below demonstrates the finest in MCC swimming and diving over the years, and we hope that it is an accurate reflection of the fine student-athletes that have swum for MCC. The current coaching staff is proud to uphold and expand on the achievements of those that have coached and swum before our tenure here.

Head coach Daniel Dubois is in the process of building an alumni database, so please log in to our alumni area to keep us posted on your current whereabouts and activities. It is our intention to build an electronic database, so that we can stay in touch and mail 2-3 electronic newsletters per year on the current successes of the team and happenings at Monroe Community College. Daniel is also hoping to establish an alumni weekend in the future, where we can gather and celebrate our common link to MCC swimming and diving. Please contact Daniel directly by e-mail if any of the information included below is inaccurate, so that he can update our historical records
