| About the Scholarship
15 Weeks, Free Tuition! The Chance of a Lifetime!
If you’ve ever dreamed of starting your own business, MCC can help.
This new fast-track scholarship program is specifically designed to help people who want to start their own businesses in the Rochester area.
The scholarship enrolls you in MCC’s BUS 110 Entrepreneurial Studies I class, and pays 100% of your tuition, textbooks, and student fees. And you’ll earn three hours of college credit for each class.
Classes start September 8 and run through December 23, 2009.
Classes will be available: during the day, evenings and online!
In Business 110, you will learn how to:
- Explore small business opportunities
- Start and manage a small business
- Develop marketing strategies
- Identify additional resources
We are especially interested in business ideas related to the following fields:
Health & Medical Services • Tourism • Construction • Food Industry • Arts & Culture
It’s the fastest way to start turning those dreams into reality.
Who’s Eligible
To be considered for the scholarship, you must be:
- Interested in opening a business within the next 12 months
- Committed to successfully completing this 11-week course
- A U.S. Citizen, national, refugee alien, or permanent resident alien
- A resident of Monroe County for the past six months
- And, not be receiving funding from another program or programs that pay full tuition, unless the program reallocates its funding to other educational costs.
Applicants who receive funding from programs that do not pay tuition or pay only a part of tuition may be eligible for this scholarship.
All are invited to apply, especially historically under-represented groups, including American Indian/Alaskan Native, Black/Non-Hispanic, Asian/Pacific Islander, Hispanic, women, and those with disabilities.
We will award a total of 38 scholarships this Fall. Scholarship winners will be notified no later than August 10, 2009.
Please note: The scholarship does not cover the tuition cost if students withdraw from the class.
What is the Time Commitment?
You will be in class once a week for three hours, or two times a week. You can choose to take the class on campus or online. |
