HSP 222 - Integrated Studies for Hospitality Management - Italy
1-3 credit hours

Course Description:
A specialized focus on the alliance of the food, hotel, and tourism management areas. This course emphasizes the interrelationship of these three areas in the field of catering, resort management, and destination appeal. Practical observation is provided either through domestic or international experiences via air, rail, ship, or motorcoach transportation. Hotel inspections and destination sightseeing, as well as restaurant tours, are an integral part of the course. Since the location, duration of the course, and course assignments will vary each semester, the credit hours also vary from one to three credits. Specific course requirements for each course can be obtained from the Department. Special fees include the cost of transportation to the course site, lodging, food, and miscellaneous expenses. Five to fifteen class hours, 30-90 laboratory hours, depending on credits. 3 credits.

Course Information:
HSP 222 is a four week culinary, cultural, art and historical class open to all MCC students. Students will choose one, 3 credit course from the summer catalogue at Florence University Arts visable at http://www.fua.it and earn an additional 3 credits from FUA. Students may select a class of their interest. A few of the topics offered are: Italian Classical Cakes and Tarts, Everything Chocolate, Contemporary Italian Cooking, Cooking Light, Tuscany and its Wine, & many more. Non-hospitality students may choose classes in Italian language, art, history, food photography, travel writing, business and more. See Mr. Lawrence for the full list of classes offered.

Cost:
Approximate: $6995.00 (contact Financial Aid to see if you have Financial Aid available).
Cost includes: 3 credit class, roundtrip airfare, accomodations (shared apartment), 15 meal plan units and Internet in school facilities, field trips to Parma, Pienza and Rome, worldwide medical and trip insurance, visit to art galleries and a museum pass, various cultural activities, application, student service and lab fees, Rome - 4 night accomodations, some cultural activities.
