About Our Department

MCC first offered an Engineering science program back in 1962, the year after its founding. Today, we have over 200 students that are majoring in our Engineering Science program with most planning to transfer on to various four-year colleges or universities. Engineering science has been a growing field in which many of our students have made rewarding careers.
The Physics/Engineering Department at Monroe Community College is composed of eight full-time faculty members, three part-time faculty members, one technical assistant and a secretary. The composition of this department allows students and professors to meet more often on a one-to-one basis. Many students have found this very helpful.
Our department also sponsors an Engineering Science Club in which quite a few of our students are members. This club regularly visits neighboring industries, colleges of interest and attends other engineering events. This allows the members to get more hands-on learning from actual engineers, college professors and students. The club also periodically sponsors engineering contests and fund-raising events.
