Description: | | A course which introduces students to digital electronics and microcontroller interfacing. Digital electronic topics will include basic logic gates, Boolean algebra, number systems, digital arithmetic, combinational logic circuits, flip-flops, registers, counters, magnitude comparators, and analog to digital and digital to analog conversion. Microcontroller interfacing projects will include voltage regulation, switches and LEDs, sensing infrared and visible light, DC and servo motors, 555 timers, and closed-loop temperature control. A final project will require students to work in teams to design and build a microcontroller controlled prototype, create a written design report, and make an oral presentation. Three class hours, three laboratory hours. |
