Watch as our new 3D printer builds a working adjustable wrench from a CAD drawing generated in SolidWorks 2008 design software. The printer a Dimension 1200es SST is manufactured by Stratasys Inc. and was purchased with funding provided by a 2008-2009 Perkins IV Technical Education Grant.
Students in our Mechanical Technology program will benefit from the rapid prototyping capabilities that the printer offers, allowing them to take parts from the design stage to finished product very quickly.
The new printer was installed during the Fall 2008 semester as part of a major renovation of Engineering Technologies Dept. laboratory space, which included not only a new CAD lab but two new Electronic Technology laboratories as well.
