How do I know this program is for me?


  • First-time Students
  • Transfer students
  • Readmit Students
    • First-time students:

      1. Be a first-time, full-time day student (no prior college).
      2. Be a resident of New York State (one year).
      3. Be a high school graduate with a C average or below in core academic courses, or be accepted for admission under the 24 credit-hour option.
      4. Have a G.E.D. (a general equivalency diploma).

      Economically, a student must be a member of a household with a gross annual income which does not exceed the applicable amount set forth in the State Education Department’s guidelines. The income guidelines which are cited below are subject to change. Contact the EOP Office for current changes in guidelines.

    Household Income Categories:

     

    Income from Non-Employment Sources

     

    A.

    Supported by one or more individuals whose combined total annual income is from Social Security or sources other than employment and which does not exceed the applicable amount under “Category A” above.

    Salary/Wage Income

     

    B.

    Supported by one or more workers whose combined total annual income does not exceed the applicable amount under "Categories B" above.

       
    C.

    For households supported by one worker with two or more employers, which does not exceed the applicable amount under "Categories C" above.

    Exceptions to Income Guidelines:

    1. The student's family is the recipient of Family Assistance or Safety Net payments through the New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance or through a county Department of Social Services; or of Family Day Care payments through the New York State Office of Children and Family Assistance or a county Department of Social Services;
    2. The student lives with foster parents who do not provide support for college and the student's natural parents provide no such support;
    3. The student is a ward of the state or county.

    SPECIAL/UNUSUAL CIRCUMSTANCES

    • Mismanagement of the Family Income
    • A one-time fluctuation in Family Income
    • Families with long-term medical obligations
    • Families which must maintain two households-one for the wage earner and one for dependents

    Transfer students:
    1. Must have been admitted to MCC.
    2. Must have been previously enrolled in a similar opportunity program such as EOP, HEOP, SEEK, College Discovery or a similar program at a post-secondary institution.
    3. Must request a verification form from previous college(s) to be sent to the EOP Office at Monroe Community College.
    4. Must complete an EOP application, one recommendation form, and submit copies of federal and state financial aid application forms along with proof of taxable and non-taxable income reported on financial aid forms.
    5. Must not be in default on any student loans.
    6. Must not have reached the maximum of six semesters of EOP eligibility.

    Readmit students:
    1. Must have been previously enrolled in EOP, but have not received a degree.
    2. Must be in good academic standings with at least a 2.0 GPA from last semester of attendance at MCC.
    3. Must complete an EOP application, two recommendations forms, and submit copies of federal and state financial aid application forms along with proof of taxable and non-taxable income reported on financial aid forms.
    4. Must not be in default on any student loans.
    5. Must not have reached the maximum of six semesters of EOP eligibility.
