The Aid for Part-time Study (APTS) program is a grant program financed
by New York State that provides assistance for eligible part-time students
enrolled in approved undergraduate studies.
Awards at Monroe Community College range from $100 to $500 per year for
part-time enrollment. An APTS award cannot exceed tuition charges.
ELIGIBILITY
To be considered for an APTS award, students must:
- Enroll part-time (3 - 11 Credit Hours) as matriculated students
in approved undergraduate degree programs or registered certificate
programs at Monroe Community College.
- Meet
the program income limits.
- Be
New York State residents and either United States citizens or qualifying
non-citizens.
- Have
a tuition charge of at least $100 per year.
- Not
have used up Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) eligibility.
- Maintain
good academic standing.
- Not
be in default on a Federal Family Education Loan.
- Have
achieved at least a cumulative "C" average after having
received the equivalent of two full years of payment of State-sponsored
student financial aid.
- Be a high school graduate, or receive the equivalent of a high school
certificate, or receive a passing grade on a federally-approved
examination if receiving a State-sponsored award for the first time
in the 1996-97 academic year.
HOW TO APPLY
To apply, students must complete an APTS application and submit it along with a copy of their prior year NYS Tax Return to the Monroe Community College Financial Aid Office. Dependent students must also include a copy of their parents prior year NYS Tax Return. APTS Applications are available at the MCC Financial Aid Office and can also be downloaded from the forms page on this web site. The student should complete the application, and return it to the college for processing as early as possible, as funds are limited.
