Aid for Part-Time Study

The Aid for Part-time Study (APTS) program is a grant program financed by New York State that provides assistance for eligible part-time students enrolled in approved undergraduate studies.

Awards at Monroe Community College range from $100 to $500 per year for part-time enrollment. An APTS award cannot exceed tuition charges.

To be considered for an APTS award, students must:

  • Enroll part-time (3 - 11 Credit Hours) as matriculated students in approved undergraduate degree programs or registered certificate programs at Monroe Community College.

  • Meet the program income limits.

  • Be New York State residents and either United States citizens or qualifying non-citizens.

  • Have a tuition charge of at least $100 per year.

  • Not have used up Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) eligibility.

  • Maintain good academic standing.

  • Not be in default on a Federal Family Education Loan.
  • Have achieved at least a cumulative "C" average after having received the equivalent of two full years of payment of State-sponsored student financial aid.

  • Be a high school graduate, or receive the equivalent of a high school certificate, or receive a passing grade on a federally-approved examination if receiving a State-sponsored award for the first time in the 1996-97 academic year.

To apply, students must complete an APTS application and submit it along with a copy of their prior year NYS Tax Return to the Monroe Community College Financial Aid Office. Dependent students must also include a copy of their parents prior year NYS Tax Return. APTS Applications are available at the MCC Financial Aid Office and can also be downloaded from the forms page on this web site. The student should complete the application, and return it to the college for processing as early as possible, as funds are limited.
