Applying for Aid: Part-time Students

Step one Step two Step three Step four Step five step six Step seven

Step 2 – File the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

To be considered for any type of financial aid (grants, loans, or scholarships), all students must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). MCC Title IV school code is: 002872

The MCC Financial Aid Office recommends that applicants file the FAFSA electronically using FAFSA on The Web ( as it has proven to be the fastest, most efficient, and most accurate application method. Results are sent to you and MCC usually in a week from filing if your application is electronically signed with a PIN.

The MCC Financial Aid Office also recommends that students (and Parents) utilize the IRS Data Retrieval Tool when completing a FAFSA, to reduce their follow up paperwork and promote accuracy.

To help facilitate electronic filing of the FAFSA, the MCC Financial Aid Office schedules FAFSA Filing Workshops at both the Brighton and Damon City Campus's throughout the year to assist students with this process. Click on workshops to see the schedule.

In addition, the U.S. Department of Education provides a helpful guide for completing the FAFSA. This is available in a web based and PDF format, in both English and Spanish on the Federal Student Aid web site.

Please note that you must apply once every school year (usually after you file your yearly income tax forms). You must also be accepted into a degree program by Admissions and be in good academic standing.
