Nominated by Jeremy Wolk
MCC was Anita L. Pelletier's first stop on her path to higher education and an impressive legal career. With an MCC office technology-legal degree in hand, Anita went on to St. John Fisher College to earn a Bachelor of Arts in economics. She didn't stop there. Instead, she headed to Syracuse University, where she earned a master's in public administration and a law degree—graduating summa cum laude from Syracuse University College of Law.
Anita joined Nixon Peabody, LLP, as an associate attorney in 2001 and was promoted to counsel nine years later. A member of Nixon Peabody's nonprofit practice group, she focuses her practice on helping national and international nonprofit clients successfully navigate governance and operational matters in the most transparent and accountable way possible. She is a member of the American, New York state and Monroe County bar associations.
Her pro bono work and dedication to community are recognized here at home and across New York State. She gives back as a member of numerous professional and civic organizations, including the National Association of College and University Attorneys, Greater Rochester Association of Women Attorneys, Webster Golf Club, St. John Fisher College Planned Giving Committee and YWCA board of directors. She resides in Webster with her husband and three children—all three of whom she encouraged to attend MCC.
Her focused educational path has led to a successful legal career and an inspiring example of community service.
