Academic Suspension Appeal Instructions

STUDENTS WHO ARE ON ACADEMIC SUSPENSION ARE NOTIFIED BY EMAIL AND BY GENERAL DELIVERY SHORTLY AFTER COMPLETION OF THE SPRING AND FALL SEMESTERS

IF YOU RECEIVED NOTICE OF YOUR ACADEMIC SUSPENSION, THESE ARE THE INSTRUCTIONS THAT YOU WILL RECEIVE IN YOUR LETTER.

ACADEMIC SUSPENSION DOES NOT PROHIBIT YOUR ENROLLMENT AT THE COLLEGE HOWEVER...

Students placed on Academic Suspension are limited to 8 credits and are not eligible for financial aid, grants or loans. If you have already received confirmation of your financial aid for this semester, or should it arrive around the time that you receive notice of your academic suspension, it will be revoked. Please be aware of the following guidelines regarding students on Academic Suspension:

  • If you want to appeal your suspension you must complete a Suspension appeal form or appeal online at www.monroecc.edu/go/graduation; click on "Appeal Form." Your appeal form must be received by Noon on Wednesday, January 11, 2012.
  • If you previously registered for classes for the spring 2012 semester, they have been dropped from your schedule.
  • It will take a period of 7 - 10 days for a decision on your appeal to be made. Your decision will be available on Tuesday, January 17th. You must go in person to the Brighton Academic Advising Center or the Damon City Campus Student Services Office (5th floor). Appeal decisions will not be given over the phone. See times listed below.
  • It is strongly advised that if you wish to return in the spring 2012 semester that you register or re-register for courses as soon as possible (see important registration information on below) but be aware that while you are on suspension, you may only register for up to 8 credits.
  • If your appeal is accepted and you are changed to Probation, you will be allowed to add courses to your schedule as recommended by the Academic Appeals Committee.
  • If you do not appeal or your appeal is sustained and you remain on Academic Suspension, you will be responsible to drop any scheduled courses or be prepared to pay for tuition, fees and books.
