### CREDITS

### QUALITY POINTS

The figure obtained by multiplying a course's credit hours by numerical value of the grade assigned. The numerical value of grades is:

 A = 4.0 B+ = 3.3 C+ = 2.3 D+ = 1.3 A- = 3.7 B = 3.0 C = 2.0 D = 1.0 B- = 2.7 C- = 1.7 D- = 0.7

Grades of I, AU, W, WI and R have neither credit nor quality points assigned.

### ATTEMPTED HOURS

### SEMESTER AVERAGE - GPA for Current Term

Calculate only for credit courses completed during the semester with grades of A, A-, B+,B,B-,C+,C,C-,D+,D,D- or F as follows:

1. Determine the quality points earned for each MCC credit-bearing course.
2. Total the Quality Points for all of the courses.
3. Total the Credits for all courses.
4. Divide the total Quality Points by the Credits.

#### Example:

 Course Quality Hours Grade Quality Point Value Total Quality Points ENG 101 3 F 0 (3 X 0.0) = 0.0 GEO 101 4 C- 1.7 (4 X 1.7) = 6.8 ART 103 * I * (---------) * HIS 103 3 B 3 (3 X 3.0) = 9.0 MAT 170 3 D+ 1.3 (3 X 1.3) = 3.9 PE 101 2 A 4 (2 X 4.0) = 8.0 15 27.7 27.7 / 15 = 1.846    CURRENT GPA

*NOTE:  The "I" grade is not used computation of GPA. This computation is for one semester only.

### CUMULATIVE AVERAGE

Cumulative average is based upon quality points and GPA hours earned at MCC. It is calculated by dividing the total quality points by the total GPA hours.

**PLEASE NOTE: Transfer credit & Credit by Exam are not included in the computation of the cumulative GPA.
