When will I receive information about the Commencement Ceremony? |

Every
April a letter with information is sent to all students eligible
to participate in the Commencement Ceremony. The letter will include
information on the time, date, location, parking, guests, cap
and gown and procedures to be followed. You may also obtain Commencement

Will I receive my diploma when I walk across the stage? |
|
| A: |
No. The Graduation Office does not receive the final grades for candidates graduating in May until after the Commencement Ceremony takes
place.You are permitted to participate in the Ceremony based on the preliminary audit of your program. A final audit will be done during the month of June and you will receive your diploma at the end of July. Students who complete their programs prior to May receive their diplomas within 2 months after the final grades have been received by the Graduation Office. |

Do I receive anything at the Commencement
Ceremony that recognizes my achievements at MCC? |

Yes,
each student receives a Congratulatory Certificate upon crossing the stage |

How will I know if I am graduating with distinction? |
|
| A: |
Those students who
completed their programs with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher will
receive an honor cord at Commencement and their diplomas will say “With Distinction”.
May candidates for graduation must have a cumulative GPA of 3.449 at
the beginning of the Spring semester to receive an honor cord at the Commencement Ceremony. Summer
candidates for graduation who are attending the Ceremony as early
attendees must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 at the beginning of the Spring
semester to receive the honor cord. |

How many guests may I invite to the Commencement Ceremony? Will they need tickets for seating? |

You
may invite as many family and friends as you wish. Tickets are not necessary – it is open seating on a first come first serve basis. |
