Determining Your Grade Point Average

Definition of:  Credits, Quality Points, Semester GPA, Cumulative GPA:

CREDITS -  Are referred to as “Quality Hours” or quality credit hours

QUALITY POINTS – The figure obtained by multiplying a course’s credit hours by numerical value of the grade assigned.  The numerical value of grades is:

 

B+ = 3.3

C+ = 2.3

D+ = 1.3

A   = 4.0

B   =  3.0

C   = 2.0

D   = 1.0

A- = 3.7

B-  = 2.7

C-  = 1.7

D-  = 0.7

*NOTE:  Grades of I, AU, W, WI and R have neither credit nor quality points assigned.

SEMESTER GPA – Calculate only for credit courses completed during the semester with grades of A, A-, B+, B, B-, C+, C, C-, D+, D, D-, or F as follows:

1.      Determine the quality points earned for each course.

2.      Total the quality points earned for each course.

3.      Total the quality hours for all courses.

4.      Divide the current quality points by the current quality hours.
