Additional features of MCC’s Honors Institute are:
- Small-sized honors courses taught by professors who have won awards for excellent teaching
- Personal mentoring and advising by Honors professors, beginning as early as the second semester of the student’s senior year of high school. Honors mentors will assist students in selecting courses, transferring to four-year colleges, and securing scholarships
- Access to award-winning and imaginative faculty mentors who work together to craft specialized learning experiences
- Opportunity for letters of recommendation from Honors Institute faculty for scholarships, transfer applications, and employment
- Priority registration
- Students and Honors Institute faculty attend outside events such as plays, concerts, lectures, etc.
- The opportunity to develop friendships among fellow Institute students and faculty with similar interests and goals
- Students who complete the Institute requirements graduate with a SUNY-registered Certificate in Honors Studies (starting in Fall 2008), in addition to their degree of choice
