Gayle-Jones, Professor Emeritus
Jewelle Gayle-Jones was with the Human Services Department at Monroe
Community College since 1973 as a full-time professor, retiring Professor
Emeritus in 1996. In addition, she served as an elected member of the
Rochester City School Board of Education from 1992 until 1997.
A native Floridian, she holds a Masters Degree in Education
from the State University of New York and a Bachelors Degree in
Social Welfare. She has a Certificate in Adult Education, and an Education
Institute Certificate from Harvard Graduate School of Education. She served
as a Parent Educator with the Rochester City School District, an adjunct
instructor at Cornell University School of Labor Relations, and an adjunct
instructor at SUNY Brockport Graduate Counselor Education Department.
She was listed in Whos Who of American Women, 19th Edition 1995-1996,
and Whos Who of American Women in Education. Her photo was a part
of the exhibit in the Monroe County Office Building, Women in Local
Politics: Past and Present.
She is involved in numerous professional and community activities, receiving
many awards for both professional and community service. She is noteworthy
for her professional development training workshops and presentations.
She is a member of Phi Delta Kappa, American Association of University
Women, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and the Rochester Chapter Links,
and is the mother of three. She enjoys reading, traveling, gardening,
and spending time with her two grandchildren, Quran and Omari.
