Faculty Innovation Centers

What are the Faculty Innovation Centers?
The Faculty Innovation Centers provide users with the technology, resources, and support to meet their development needs.

These facilities are equipped with high-end computers and peripherals (scanners, color printers, CD burners, etc.) and are available to faculty and staff. The centers are staffed on a regular basis to provide users with one-to-one assistance and training.

Where are the FICs?

Brighton Campus: The Brighton Faculty Innovation Center is located in room 3-153A, which you'll find by entering the 3-150 Instructional Technologies office area, and turning left immediately after you pass our Front Desk. This map shows you where the 3-150 office area is located on the Brighton Campus.

Damon City Campus: To go to the Damon Faculty Innovation Center, come to the Damon Library on the 4th floor, go straight through the Library into the Damon Electronic Learning Center, and follow the hanging signs to the Damon Faculty Innovation Center in room 4088. See where the Electronic Learning Center and Faculty Innovation Center are located on the Damon City Campus.

Who can use the FICs?
The Faculty Innovation Centers can be used by any MCC faculty or staff. Note: Students have access to similar equipment in the Electronic Learning Centers.

What equipment & software is available?

Hardware:

  • State of the art computers with:
    • DVD R/RW drives (read and burn both CDs and DVDs)
    • Media card readers
    • USB ports
  • High resolution scanners with slide/negative scanning capability
  • Color printers and access to all networked printers

Software:

  • Windows Operating Systems
  • Microsoft Office
  • Adobe Suite including:
    • Adobe Photoshop
    • Adobe Acrobat
  • DVD and CD burning software

Training and troubleshooting
The FICs are staffed on a regular basis with technology specialists who can assist users with technology issues and help them with their projects. It is recommended that you call the facilities to verify the technology specialist's availability or to schedule an appointment.

Technology support is also available through the Technology Support Center at xTECH or 292-8324.

When are the FICs available?

Brighton Campus:

Hours:: Monday-Friday 8:45 am - 4:45 pm (open for Faculty Use).

Faculty Mentors (Nancy Haggerty and Andrea Gilbert) will be staffed within the Brighton FIC to help wtih Blackboard questions and course development Monday - Friday in September and Ocotober.

Damon City Campus:

Hours (open for Faculty Use):

Mon - Thurs: 8am - 6pm
Fridays: 8am - 4pm
Saturdays: 9am - 2pm

For the Fall, 2014 semester, a member of the ID Team will be in the DCC: FIC every Wednesday beginning October 1, 2014 between the hours of 9:15 am and 4:15 pm). Feel free to stop in with your Blackboard questions.
