Literature Resource Center

The Literature Resource Center (LRC) database provides biographical and bibliographical information on authors as well as criticism of their work.

Accessing MCC Libraries Article Databases

  • Go to http://www.monroecc.edu/go/library
  • If on-campus, click "Find articles and online databases" and select
        "Literature Sources" from the list of subject categories.
  • If off-campus, click “Access from Home” and follow directions to log-in
  • Clicking on Literature Resource Center will take you to the search screen.
  • Search:

    Once you have entered the LRC, select the type of search you need:

    • Author - search by an author's full or partial name, i.e. Hughes, Langston or Hughes

    • Title - finds the exact title or words in the title, i.e. House on Mango Street or Mango Street

    • Advanced Search - maximize your search by combining terms in different fields and/or limiting results by document type, i.e. The Yellow Wallpaper (title) and feminism (keyword) with the results limited to critical essays (document type)

    • Keyword - for broad searches, i.e. Science Fiction will find material that mentions genre

    • Authors by Type - search for authors by birth or death year, nationality, ethnicity genre, theme and literary movement or time period.

    Results:

    LRC organizes results into categories. Click on the tabs at the top of the screen to access biographies, literary criticism, work overviews, bibliographies and additional resources.

    Printing and E-mailing Articles:

    To reformat an article for printing click the Print iconimage of Print icon located in the upper left corner of the screen. Then choose "Print" from your browser to print the document.

    To e-mail and article click the E-mail icon image of E-mail icon located in the upper left corner of the screen. You can send the document in either HTML (web page format) or plain text format.
